Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, mejor conocido por su nombre artístico The Weeknd (Toronto, Canadá, 16 de febrero de 1990), es un cantante, compositor y productor canadiense.
A finales de 2010, Tesfaye subió anónimamente varias canciones a YouTube bajo el nombre "The Weeknd". Lanzó tres mixtapes de nueve pistas a lo largo de 2011: House of Balloons, Thursday and Echoes of Silence, que eran muy aclamadas. Al año siguiente, lanzo su álbum recopilatorio titulado "Trilogy" con treinta pistas que consisten en versiones remasterizadas de su material mixtape y tres canciones adicionales.
